The Amazing Alicia Gettys

So about 8 years ago when I was ironically in San Diego, I met Alicia on the phone because she was one of Rocky's friends. Since then we have kept in touch and bumped into each other whenever we were in the same area. this summer was the first time I have ever lived near her and I got to spend some quality time with her which was blast!

Alicia and I had breakfast at a little shop on the beach.

Alicia and I were going to a Michael Jackson/Ferra Faucet tribute party. She was Ferra, I was Obviously Michael, although I think her costume is arguably better!

A much better picture of Ferra!

This was from our beautiful trip to Blythe,
I don't recall why she was doing this but it was funny!

Alicia deserves some kind of medal for going into our apartment(or a tetanus shot).
She is actually holding a B-day card I received, which reminds me of a story.....
So about a week after my B-day Alicia invited me over, and when I got there
she had me close my eyes and follow her upstairs. when I got there we
opened a door and a bunch of people yelled surprise for a makeup surprise B-day Party.
The real funny thing is I really didn't know them! She had just invited them to make surprise
Great!. Too funny, I even got a birthday cookie with candles and
of course some B-day Mountain Dew(the only liquid I drink!)

Here we are at the beach!
And this is her the night before I left!
She stayed till like 2 a.m. while I cleaned! What a trooper!

Bachelor life...you know you miss it!

California life

So Brian and I lived the easy life this summer. We had no microwave, and only one sauce pan that we used to boil water for our Cup o' Noodles. Here are a few pictures of our "Home." Don't worry I keep my house in much better condition!

" The" Garbage bag. I used one to bag move some laundry to California this summer, and that bag became the garbage bag. However when it got full we just took it out to the dumpster emptied it and brought it back in. Unfortunately on the last trip out this summer it tore a bit. May the good bag rest in peace.

This is where Brian and I spent our time in the apartment. We weren't home most of the time during the day, so we never really turned the AC on because it was so cool at night. However at times it did get a bit hot and we would sprint out, dive in the pool and run back in.

Here Alicia is pretending to drink a mountain dew. The important part is the giant stack of cans which I eventually recycled. There will be a later post with our "canning" adventures.

People used to sneak over and mess up our house. Fortunately Brian and I are neat freaks, so we would immediately clean the house when people left it looking like this!

You can't say Brian and I didn't put our scouting to good use. When we got there, we didn't have a shower curtain obviously so we went to the dollar store(where else would you even go for these things). Anyway I asked where their shower curtains were and they said they didn't have any, all they had were table cloths. At the time I thought why would you even mention table cloths in the same sentence as shower curtains? Anyway as I looked at them an idea came to mind and I asked Brian to pick a color. He chose peach obviously and the above creation took place.

I must admit that I don't relish living like this ever again! But it was exciting for a summer. These pictures also show how great a friend Alicia is because I don't think many other people would enter that apartment! In fact I am slighty embarassed she did!

A Trip to Paradise

So in true Tyler form, I will be posting several blog posts at once. On Saturday(some day in July), My good Friend Alicia Gettys and I left San Diego and headed to Blythe California to visit the Roman's and meet aspen!

We got stopped on the way there at a border patrol station to ensure
that we were actually legal Americans! This is actually the kind of place rocky works occasionally.
Andrea looked great already and their apartment was awesome!
Aspen is so cute! It was fun to meet her and get to hold the first little roman!

As you can clearly see in the photo, I was a big hit with aspen. You can tell she
was having a hard time containing her excitement to meet me!

While we were in Blythe, Alicia and I tried to go for a walk. It was so hot,
I think over 110 degrees, so we headed back to the Roman's apartment.
We decided to go bathing(yes not swimming), because the pool was 97 degrees!
which still felt better than that awful heat. Unfortunately there were so
many dead bugs in the pool it made it hard to really enjoy the experience!

Here is me filling up the gas tank! Brian was kind enough to loan me his car for the trip because I doubt sincerely my Dewey car could have made the voyage!

Another highlight of the trip was some peach rings Alicia purchased as we were leaving San Diego. They melted in the car since nothing can survive that heat. However....you don't let good candy go to waste.....

You know you love the background music!
